About Doug Stout
Doug has been a key player in the franchising industry for over 20 years. Originally from West Virginia, he moved to South Carolina 25 years ago, driven by his strong entrepreneurial spirit. Even as a child, Doug showed his business acumen by running his own paper route and a summer yard work service.
After earning a degree in Business from West Virginia University, Doug began his career in IT recruiting and staffing. Following a corporate merger, he shifted his focus to franchising, a field where his skills truly shined. He was awarded his first franchise as a franchise coach and has since guided thousands of clients toward business ownership.
Throughout his career, Doug has owned a diverse range of franchises, from Masters/Regional Development to semi-absentee models. His expertise in coaching, mentoring, and advising has made him a valuable resource for individuals considering self-employment. Known for his patience, depth of knowledge, and direct approach, Doug has become a trusted advisor in the franchising space.
Doug now resides in Greenville, SC, with his wife Laura, their 10-year-old daughter Shelley, and their dog Melonie.

He has worked in manufacturing, software, IT infrastructure, project management, supply chain management as well as as an owner of a Dogtopia franchise. His diverse background allows him to ably advise clients in all facets of business, including industry analysis, business plan and strategic development, pro forma and budgeting, cash flow management, staffing and operations.

He’s originally from the south side of Chicago and has lived in the greater Boston area for the past 20 years. After receiving his undergraduate degree from The College of the Holy Cross he was an officer in the United States Marine Corps, and then went on to earn an MBA from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business as well as a Masters degree from Stanford’s School of Education. He loves spending time with his 5 children and doting on his three grandsons.

In 2005 he started a senior care franchise where he worked in franchise development and was the CEO until 2011.

With over 25 years of experience in finance, business strategy, and business startup consulting, Joshua Dickson is a trusted advisor for those exploring business ownership through franchising.
Josh’s first up-close exposure to franchise operations came in the early 2000s when he was a co-founder and financial controller at Allied Media, a franchise development company.
Following roles as an analyst at CME and Citadel, where he developed expertise in financial markets and strategic decision-making, Josh founded a successful consulting practice. Over the years, he provided expert guidance on post-merger advisory and integration, startup advisory, and valuations, helping businesses navigate complex transitions and achieve sustainable growth.
Josh currently co-owns an AI software company where he serves as an advisor, writer, and speaker.

Nicole Amico joined The Perfect Franchise as a consultant in 2025, bringing with her a wealth of diverse franchise experience. Nicole is also a Certified Franchise Executive who previously served as Chief Operating Officer for a franchise technology company and Senior Vice President of Development for a franchise development firm. She has helped countless franchisors find the right franchisees and understands the value a strong candidate brings to a business.
After earning her BA from Lehigh University, Nicole moved to Manhattan, where she spent two decades rising through the ranks at some of the country’s top media companies. Always on the business side, her focus was helping clients drive revenue—work that became both her profession and her passion.
Nicole believes everyone should be educated about franchising and have the opportunity to change their life through business ownership. She now lives just a few miles from her childhood home in Ridgewood, NJ, with her husband, children and goldendoodle.
